The Successful Locum

The module has been created from a partnership between ONCORE and A1 Locums.  A1 Locums recruit locum vets and nurses, as well as place permanent staff in the veterinary industry.

We identified that locums often feel rather ‘thrown in at the deep end’ when starting a placement, and that there was much we could do to better prepare you for work in an unfamiliar practice. This short course offers approximately 4 hours of CPD on this topic, on this easy-access  self-directed course.

You will be taking a look at areas such as:

  • Choosing the right practice for you, by considering  what fits with your current situation and skill set, and what practice environments may also provide you with further opportunities to develop your skills.
  • The essential items you will need in order to carry out a placement effectively
  • How to prepare  the important information you need from the practice, and how to obtain it, by preparing a clear and simple ‘induction’ protocol
  • The financial considerations you will need to make with respect to locum work
